Stitching Faults

UNEVEN STITCHING

This fault in textiles refers to defect in which the stitches or seam on fabric are not consistently spaced or aligned. This irregular stitching can result from issues with the sewing machine setting, operator error or variation in fabric itself.

OPEN HEM

It refers to the flaw in which the edge or hem of fabric is not properly sewn or finished, leading to gaps, loose threads or incomplete closure. This can occur during the sewing process when edge is not adequately folded, stitched or secured.

UNEVEN / UNFINISHED CORNERS

It refers to imperfection in which the corners of article are not properly finished or aligned. The defect can occur from error in cutting, sewing or folding process.

SEAM PUCKERING

It is observed when fabric on either side of seam becomes wavy, gathered or rippled instead of lying flat. It can happen due to various factors including improper sewing tension, incorrect stitch length or fabric distortion.

BROKEN THREAD

It is a defect which refers to situation where the thread used for sewing or stitching breaks, resulting in incomplete or interrupted seam. It can occur due to factors like poor thread quality, improper tension setting on sewing machine or even weak points in fabric itself.

UNCUT THREAD

It refers to the fault where threads used for stitching or sewing are not properly trimmed or cut after sewing process. It can result in visible thread hanging from fabric giving it unfinished look.
